How would you interpret the intricate bond between the musician and their instrument and the melodies that entwine in their dance?
Vancouver Island Sculpting Studio, in collaboration with the Nanaimo International Jazz Festival Association., is excited to host an art exhibition that celebrates the spirit of the Nanaimo International Jazz Festival 2024.
Artists are encouraged to submit artworks that reflect their own original, personal vision and style in response to this musical event.
The exhibition will be held September 6-14, 2024 at Vancouver Island Sculpting Studio (294 Harewood Road, Nanaimo) with the opening reception marking the commencement of the Nanaimo International Jazz Festival Association.
We invite all submissions for original 2D and 3D pieces crafted from various materials. Photography, digital art, and AI-generated works will not be considered.
Artwork requirements and eligibility:
Up to three artworks per artist may be submitted for consideration
Artwork must be the original creation of the artist
Artwork dimensions should not exceed 3 feet in width and 3 feet in height and must be ready for hanging
Artwork must be for sale
Fees:
There is no fee to submit work for consideration
If your work is accepted for exhibition the following fees apply: July 30, 2024
The sales Commission is 40%
Submission Information:
1. Contact Information:
- Artist name, email, phone number, and mailing address
2. Artist Biography/Statement:
- A brief description (max 200 words) of the artist’s training and experience their artistic vision
3. Proposed Artwork Description:
- A brief description of the work, including the title, medium, and dimensions
4. Photos:
- Provide high-resolution images of the proposed artwork
5. Retail Price
- all work submitted must be for sale.
Additional Information:
Commission Details: - Vancouver Island Sculpting Studio will retain a 40% commission on all sales during the exhibition. This commission will be utilized to support the curation and promotion of the exhibition. Financial and cost responsibilities associated with the exhibition will be managed by the studio.
Insurance Notice: - Unfortunately, we are unable to secure insurance for the 10-day exhibit. Artists will be responsible for any damages or losses during the event.
Notice of Acceptance - Artists will be notified June 15, by email once submission reviews are complete. Once accepted, exhibiting artists will be required to pay the exhibition fee for accepted artwork.
Drop-off Information: Artists are required to deliver their artwork by August 30th.
Pick-up information: Unsold works will be available for pick-up on September 16th
